Pastor Paul's Paragraphs

I love the Christmas season. It is such a focused time on the person of Jesus Christ. Although this will be Joyce and my first Christmas as "empty nesters," we are beginning to decorate and get into the Christmas spirit already. We are talking about the placement of the tree, our plans for Christmas day, various ways we can stay connected with our kids in spite of the miles between us and so much more. The details of Christmas can at times seem overwhelming. I choose to be over-whelmed with the person that Christmas is all about. The song "Love Was When" summarizes my expectations of Christmas. Here are the words from this special song. Consider the person of Jesus Christ as you celebrate the season before us.

"Love was when God became a man, locked in time and space, without rank or place. Love was God, born of Jewish kin, just a carpenter without fishermen.

Love was when Jesus walked in history, lovingly He brought a new life that's free. Love was God, nailed to bleed and die, to reach and love one such as I.

Love was when God became a man, down where I could see love that reached to me. Love was God, dying for my sin, and so trapped was I, my whole world caved in. Love was when Jesus rose to walk with me, lovingly He brought a new life that's free. Love was God, only He could try to reach and love one such as I."

May you find this Christmas real joy and peace in the person of Jesus Christ, the real giver of true joy and peace. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

      Pastor Paul and Joyce

Salvation Army Angel Kids Program

Thanks to thousands of donations, the Salvation Army is able to bring Christmas to many less fortunate families. Grace Baptist Church has decided to partner with the Salvation Army and provide 30 gifts for children and we need your help!

On the decorated Christmas tree in the foyer there are Angel Tags. Each tag has a child’s name, age, sex and desired gift. You can pull the tag from the tree and return it with your unwrapped gift. Presents should be returned and placed under the Christmas tree by Sunday, December 9.

For more information or if you have any questions, please call the church office.

Save Our Kids

Help Overturn SB 777!

What is SB 777?
SB777 normalizes homosexuality, bisexuality, and trans- sexuality in our schools across the state, without room for localon addressing these issues.

What did our governor do?
Governor Schwarzenegger signed SB 777, the outrageous legislation that will result in reverse discrimination against religious students and students with traditional family values. Capitol Resource Family Impact filed a referendum to prevent the implementation of SB 777.CRFI is calling on every concerned citizen to join them in this huge undertaking.

What is GBC doing?
We are joining the fight to protect the rights of conservative people in the state of California. Our legislators have initiated a referendum which allows Californians to put this bill on hold, prevent it from becoming law, and actually place it on a ballot in an upcoming election.

What can YOU do?
Sign the petition, and ask every registered voter you know to sign it too! GBC has ordered the petitions and they will be available for you to sign Sunday, December 9.

For more information on how SB777 can affect your children, visit www.saveourkids.net.
