40th Birthday Celebration
Sunday, February 24
I love special days. These include holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, celebration days, graduation days, and many more. We here at Grace are getting ready to celebrate one of those special days. As history records indicate, Grace Baptist Church began with a home Bible study in January 1968. It was during the early months of 1968 that the home Bible study would move to Bogue Hall which was located across the street from the current church location. An invitation was extended to Spence VanDusen to be the first pastor of Grace and 40 years of history would begin. This past year, Larry and Sue Garvin would join the membership of the church with membership numbers of 1140 and 1141. What a blessing Grace has been over the years to well over 1000 people who have been touched by the various ministries on the northeast corner of Bogue and Walton. Add to this the multitude of students and parents who have been impacted by Grace Christian Academy and Grace Christian Preschool, and you have a ministry that has literally impacted a number of people that is beyond calculation. There is a pastor in Michigan, missionaries in more than one country, military families around the world, and many a former member who are serving the Lord faithfully. These are all individuals who have the privilege of sharing in the 40 years of history that God has blessed us with here at Grace Baptist Church. Thank the Lord for the vision, hard work, financial giving, and commitment of so many people over the years that has resulted in a local ministry that has literally impacted lives around the world.
Plan on joining us on Sunday, February 24, 2008 as we celebrate the 40th birthday of Grace Baptist Church. There will be a historical presentation in the morning service as well as a birthday cake celebration following our Annual Meeting on Sunday night.
Ever heard the phrase "Life Begins at 40?" As we look back on 40 years of history I am reminded of a song "To God Be The Glory." To God be the glory great things He hath done.
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son. Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
and opened the lifegate that all may go in. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice. O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son and give Him the glory, great things He hath done.
H. B. London wrote the following in "The Pastor's Weekly Briefing," a newsletter that comes from the Focus on the Family ministries. "You can never replace time. You cannot take back a harsh word. You will never be able to duplicate an opportunity. There will never be a second time to make a first impression. You can buy "stuff" with money, but just think of all the things money cannot buy — like healing for a broken heart."
God has given the family of Grace Baptist Church the privilege of being a light house on the southern edge of Yuba City, California. As we remain faithful, as we expand on the vision, hard work, financial giving, and commitment of so many people over the years, may we continue to see God's blessing as we reach out to a hurting world with the gospel message expressed in both word and deed.
Happy Birthday Grace Baptist Church!

A Sudanese Christian boy has his knees and feet nailed to a board and he is left to die. When rescued he says he forgives the man who did this because Jesus was also nailed and forgave him.
A Vietnamese pastor is sentenced to two years in prison. When he is offered an early release, he declines stating that he has a group of new believers in the prison he has to
disciple.
A Colombian missionary is kidnapped and told she only has two hours to live. She tells her captors that if she only has two hours to live, she wants to spend it telling them about Jesus.
Which will you do, pray, give, go?
A Note from Hannah Farley
Teen Missionary in Peru
My dad and I were on our way to a youth camp in Ingenio, Peru, when all of a sudden our car slid off the side of the road. We were definitely under God’s hand as we drove to Ingenio. Two hours later and nearly a dozen men helping, we continued on our journey to Ingenio. We had about 20 teens at camp, which was quite a bit less than what we had planned. There was a lot of rain the first two days so the teens could not come from surrounding villages; even though we were kind of disappointed it was a blessing in disguise. This was the first year that the people in Ingenio were in charge of planning and directing camp. The teens were Christian, all except this one girl named Ani. I had the opportunity to talk with this girl who was under the impression that she had to do enough good to out do the bad, before she could accept Jesus. I was able to share verses with her and talk to her and after about 30 minutes she told me that she wanted to be saved. It was so awesome to see Ani, after she prayed, walk up to a couple of people and tell them what she had just done. We will be in Lima at the end of January and then from there we will go to Colombia for a few weeks for a conference. Keep us in your prayers.
