Pastor Paul's Paragraphs

I have discovered in life that there are times of enormous energy and vitality. It was Tuesday night this past week that my usual work day had ended and that my energy level was still running high. I would eventually finish the planting of our vegetable garden and then mow our large back lawn with the push mower and a head light- it is tough to mow the lawn in the dark (I think Joyce was beginning to wonder about me). I would eventually unwind for the day and rest, yet found myself reflecting on how good it felt to have that level of energy.

I have also discovered in life that there are times of diminished energy and vitality, like the Wednesday after my energized Tuesday. What do you do when you experience these difficult days? That is a good question. Some may turn to caffeine or energy drinks but I would not suggest this. Some may opt for the couch and just choose to relax a little. Some may not have the option of just slowing down. For my entire life, I have had the privilege of being surrounded by a great host of individuals who both modeled and taught the Word of God. I can think of my mom and dad, many church workers including two specific individuals, pastors, teachers, friends, and acquaintances. Mine has been a life that is enriched even today because of the enormous influence of God's Word.

With that introduction, how does one fully enjoy those energized days and grow through those days of struggle and hardship? Here are a few things to consider…from the Word of God.

From Psalm 71:1-2 - Place your trust in the Person who will not fail you and can see the days ahead of you.

From John 16:33 - Face the reality of peace with Christ in the midst of promised tribulation.

From 1 Corinthians 9:27 - Live a disciplined life, live beyond those feelings.

     >From Hebrews 12:1-2 - Recognize that life is a run of endurance, that uphill runs are the toughest, and that the road from the judgment hall of Pilate to Golgotha was uphill.

From 1 Peter 5:7 - Remember that Christ cares for you.

From 1 John 1:7-9 - Keep short accounts of sin and find cleansing in confession.

From Revelation 21:3-4 - Practice the principle of deferred gratification, there is a security and a hope for the believer in Christ where the tribulations of this life will be no more…..and I shall see Him face to face.

I have discovered in life that days are quickly passing (James 4:14), 86,400 seconds per day, and what I do for Christ will last, and what I do for self may pass.

The Truth Project

13-Week DVD Series - Sunday Evenings at 6 PM
May 31 through August 30

Welcome to Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project! You are about to embark on what could well be the most important tour of your life.

You and I are engaged in a cosmic battle - a battle that is raging for the hearts and minds of people the world over, pitting the truth claims of God against the lies of the world, the flesh and the devil. It is a battle over what you truly believe.

The Truth Project is an attempt to engage in that battle for truth. This project is designed to build a systematic and comprehensive biblical framework by studying God’s blueprint for all of life. But even more so, we pray that it will be an encounter with God as we endeavor to gaze upon His face and seek to know Him more deeply. Because it is there, and only there, that we find true transformation - a metamorphosis that will renew your mind and heart and equip you to resist conforming to the world (Romans 12:2).

Soli Deo Gloria!
