It is always a joy to sense that you are loved. Even Bosh, the barking dog across the fence behind our back yard, wants to be loved. Joyce and I have recently been absent from our church family here at Grace as we enjoyed some vacation time together. Once we returned home, we both faced the need for Joyce to travel to Indiana due to the health of two of her family members. Between the many words of "welcome back," the multitude of "we are praying for you" statements, and the physical care received from so many, it is obvious that we are loved by many and part of a caring family here in Yuba City. Thank you so very much for your love, care and prayers on our behalf.
I love to study the "one another" passages. In the New Testament, there are 81 of them in the New Kings James version of the Bible. If you use a different translation, that number may vary slightly. Not all of them are statements of admonition. Many of them include a verb of action that defines our relationship to one another. The call to "love one another" is the most numerous. Additional passages include being kindly affectionate to one another, be of the same mind and be like minded, admonish, greet, care for, bear one another's burdens, forgive one another, edify and exhort one another. Hebrews 10:24 says we are to "consider one another in order to stir up love and good works." Then in Hebrews 10:25 we are to assemble together and to do it more often as we see the end of time as we know it approaching.
Simple thinking is important to me. Complex issues and arguments have a tendency to confuse and complicate life. The "one another" passages in the scriptures are simple to get my mind around, they help to define my relationship to my wife, my family, those in my church family, and my neighbors. Here is a limited list of "one another" passages. Let me encourage you to take a look into your Bible, and allow these verses to challenge and motivate you as we collectively seek to grow in Christ.
